2026 trends for the primary bath give us as designers all kinds of opportunity for material and pattern mixing, snazzy features and wellness focused appliances. I’m seeing the primary bath becoming even more important than the primary bedroom. Since COVID, we’ve seen a sharp increase in interest around wellness. All kinds of fun things are coming to market to support that overall goal. I believe that the trend of separate sink vanities is here to stay, and the customization of those vanities is becoming more and more a “thing.” I’ve started incorporating hot styling tool pull outs, mini refrigerators to store skin care products, drawers with outlets for charging your toothbrush, and outlets in the toe kick for vibration plates.
Water closets (the separate, smaller room for the toilet) is also becomming a highly customized space. Low lighting, an outlet and small shelf for a phone incorporated into the toilet paper holder, a night light held low to the floor, and bidet toilets with heated seats, heated water, dryers, etc. to promote cleanliness and toileting health are all common asks right now. Showers have all sorts of nifty adds one may use….for example, chroma therapy (light therapy), steam (for resperatory health, the lowering of blood pressure and better sleep), heated benches, double product niches, double shower heads and aromatherapy are all easy to access on the market today. And bathtubs are having a major moment. Soaking in epsom salt is supposed to be really great for detoxing and relaxation. Tubs may be free standing or they may use a deck (for easier in and out). They may have chroma therapy, water therapy, and even “0” gravity features. Heated floors are becoming more and more popular as well. With new developments coming from brands like Schleuter, they’re not as pricey as they once were.
Honestly there are just so many fun little adds and gadgets to use in a primary bath….it’s a real treat to be asked to design them for my clients.
