Glaister Lands ASID ANDYZ Award for Best Outdor Space

Interior designer Wendy Glaister won an ASID ANDYZ Award for 2024 Best Outdoor Space. “To say that we are blessed to do what we do is an understatement,” says Glaister, president and founder of luxury design firm Wendy Glaister Interiors.

“So many opportunities exist to make a special place for our clients and their families. I am so grateful for the faith that our clients place in our vision. We are extremely grateful that our projects are receiving national attention.”

The American Society of Interior Design (ASID) ANDYZ Awards is an annual celebration of the year’s best in interior design. Interior designers, architects, design students, and showroom design professionals enter hundreds of projects in 13 categories. Each project is then judged by a panel of industry professionals before selecting a winning project from each category.

For a few months now, social media has been all about a craze called “Bookshelf Wealth.” The definition on Instagram is, “A term that refers to the perceived wealth or status symbol of having a large collection of books in one’s home.”

There are people showing all sorts of collection in bookshelves, books and otherwise, conversations about cultivating a display of education and status versus just enjoying the things you love on display, and hundreds and hundreds of posts that offer guidance on how to style the perfect shelves.

For this 1,500 square foot patio within a 1.18 acre of outdoor space, Wendy Glaister of Wendy Glaister Interiors in Central Valley, California, renovated the existing patio, creating an entertaining and cooking space that was four-season friendly.

That included updating both the sport court to accommodate pickleball and the putting green, adding a bocce court and even safely relocating a family of bats. The outdoor design includes three area for entertaining, complete with fire pits and seating.

When was the last time you bought a major appliance? For me, it was August 2023, when the control panel of my 13-year-old washing machine stopped working. I only had one criterion for a replacement machine besides fitting into my compact laundry closet: My new washer would need to be Energy Star rated.

That’s apparently a popular choice. Since 1992, when the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency debuted the program, nearly 90% of American households recognize the label, and 45% knowingly chose products with the certification in the last year, according to the site’s Impact page.

Will the new U.S. Cyber Trust Mark label have a comparable impact? If so, how long will it take? I know it will be a logo I’ll be looking for when shopping for future smart home purchases. You might want to consider it too, especially if you’re enthusiastic about all the technology enhancements being offered.

Bordona’s, a California furniture and appliance retailer, debuted a spectacular state-of-the-art showroom in Oakdale, CA designed in collaboration with award-winning interior designer Wendy Glaister. Wendy worked with Bordona’s team to create two kitchen styles that will be used for live cooking demos and special events with renowned chefs to showcase the new alluring kitchen designs and features.

The kitchen designs are a direct reflection of Glaister’s vision for the Bordona family. She selected Dekton Rem for the contemporary kitchen style as the perfect surface to bring together the marble backsplash and linen-look slab cabinets. The beauty of the kitchen is complemented by the floor-to-ceiling windows facing the main street that runs through the city, which allows natural light to bathe the space. The new showroom, created in partnership with SubZero Wolf, features some stand-out appliances from the brand.

Ron added Bordona’s Design Showroom in Oakdale, CA contributes to his team’s ability to service their customers by actively demonstrating a wider variety of luxury appliances than ever before. The remodeled space features an exquisite SubZero Wolf Cove live demo kitchen, which is dedicated to Ron’s 86 year old mother Phyllis Bordona. She was known as the microwave lady and for her hosting microwave cooking demonstrations at our store starting in 1971 and extended for decades. Phyllis’ claim to fame was preparing a Thanksgiving meal in a Microwave including moist turkey prepared in less than 2 hours.
