At the height of the pandemic, we were called to re-imagine this charge nurses home. She craved light and air, a feeling of relaxation, and a way to create visual peace by having a place for everything and everything in its place. We raised the ceiling, installed all new, much taller windows, re-faced the fireplace, and created cooking and entertaining zones: bar, baking, visiting, cooking. The island was created to act as an anchor, accommodating four guests at the counter with classic lanterns above to add sparkle and cheer. A nook for a morning coffee with views of the exquisite garden beyond adds to the charm, and pays homage to the client’s Ansel Adams collection.
